Just got a call from my mom:
Mom: "Are you coming home this weekend?"
Me: "No...did I say I was?"
Mom: "Well, no, but I thought you might surprise Daddy."
Me: "Wasn't in the plan...do you want me to come home?"
Mom: "Well, you don't have to, but we're going into the City tonight to see Rich sing (mom's cousin's exhusband!) and we'll have a bbq on Sunday evening. Your father would be so surprised and so happy."
So, I have no clothes for the weekend, no thyroid medication, but I'm hopping in my car about 3:30/4:00 and heading to Manhattan. Why couldn't she have thought of this "surprise" yesterday?!

oh kris, i can identify! as a daughter and a mother, i sometimes wonder which end of the guilt meter i fall on. the prompt this week is "guilt"--no coincidences..
i guess the bottom line is you are a good daughter and your father will love to see you. but you gotta wonder why your mother waited: did she think the idea would/should/could come from you? ps my mother would have done the exact same thing
:( :) kj
LOL! I can identify, too. My mom does this and, if I say I can't go along with the crazy idea, she gets what my sister and I call "the tone." The "oh that's okay" tone that says we're spoiling all the fun. :) Safe travels and enjoy the look on your dad's face ... and cross your eyes behind your mom's back. I do the same thing sometimes, and it feels so good. ;)
